Torn is a collage dealing with opposites: being torn between the desert and the Caribbean, torn between the city and nature. With the exception of the mermaid's tail, the entire collage is made from photos of beads and beadwork. The central figure was inspired by the grain in some wood paneling at our old house in CT.
